The spec is in Telegram. Claude Code reads it there.
Add ChatMate to Claude Code with one command, or keep the connector you already added on claude.ai. Then point Claude at a spec, a bug report or a file someone sent in a chat, and reply to them when the work is done.
Claude Code in a terminal: the owner asks it to read the checkout spec Mark sent in Telegram and add the endpoint. Claude Code finds Mark’s message, reads the PDF, edits the route and, after the owner allows it, tells Mark in Telegram.

Connect Claude Code.
If you added ChatMate on claude.ai and Claude Code is signed in with the same account, it is already in /mcp as claude.ai ChatMate. Otherwise, two commands.
First, your personal bot
Claude Code reads Telegram through your own ChatMate bot. Create it in @chatmate_aibot and connect the chats you want. It takes a couple of minutes in Telegram and is done once for every AI.
How to create the bot and connect chatsAdd the server for all projects
Run this in a terminal. The user scope makes ChatMate available in every project, not only the current folder.
Terminal claude mcp add --transport http --scope user chatmate https://www.getchatmate.com/api/connector/mcpSign in with Telegram
Start Claude Code, run /mcp, pick chatmate and authenticate. Or sign in straight from the terminal; add --no-browser on a remote machine.
Terminal claude mcp login chatmateAsk about a chat
“Read the checkout spec Mark sent in Telegram and add the endpoint.” The first time Claude uses each ChatMate tool, it asks for permission.
What works in Claude Code.
Claude Code reads the chats you connected, from the moment you connected them and up to 60 days back.
Specs and bug reports from chats
Search a client chat or a QA group for the message that matters and work from it without copy and paste.
Files people sent
PDF specs, logs and screenshots from connected chats. Claude opens them when the task needs them.
A reply when the work is done
Ask Claude to tell the person in their chat. Claude Code asks before the send, as it does for any tool.
One connector, every Claude
The connector from claude.ai also works in VS Code, JetBrains, cloud sessions and the Claude desktop app’s local sessions.
Limits
- claude.ai sign-in onlyThe claude.ai connector shows up only when Claude Code uses your claude.ai subscription, not an API key, Bedrock or Vertex. Use claude mcp add there.
- Your own server winsIf you add ChatMate with claude mcp add, Claude Code hides the claude.ai connector with the same address.
- Long answers are cutClaude Code warns above 10,000 tokens of tool output and stops at 25,000 by default. Ask for one chat or a shorter period.
- History starts at connectionOlder messages, secret chats and channels are not available.
Questions about Claude Code.
- Is this the Telegram channel plugin for Claude Code?
No. Anthropic’s Telegram channel lets you message a Claude Code session from Telegram. ChatMate gives Claude Code the content of your own chats and groups, so it can work from what people wrote there.
- Do I need an api_id or a Telegram session on this machine?
No. Nothing logs in to your Telegram account. Your personal ChatMate bot receives the chats you connect, and Claude Code signs in to ChatMate with OAuth in the browser.
- Which scope should I use?
User, as in the command above: ChatMate is about your chats, not one repository. A project scope would write it into .mcp.json for everyone who clones the repo.
- Can Claude Code send to Telegram on its own?
It asks the first time it uses each tool, and you choose whether to allow that tool from then on. Keep sending tools on ask if you want to see every message before it goes.
- How do I sign out or switch accounts?
Run /mcp, open chatmate and clear authentication, or run claude mcp logout chatmate. Then sign in again.
Next to Claude Code other ways in.
The same ChatMate in other places you work.
