Connect Grok Bot to your Telegram.
Give Grok Bot the context from your Telegram chats: what a client asked, what the team decided and who is waiting for a reply. ChatMate connects the chats you choose, so you can ask your Bot to find, summarize and answer messages.
Illustrative Grok Bot task with fictional messages: the owner asks what Leo needs for a proposal and explicitly requests a reply. The Bot searches the connected Telegram chat, reads the conversation and sends the requested message, subject to its permission settings.

Connect Grok Bot.
First connect your Telegram chats to a personal ChatMate bot. Then add ChatMate in Grok Bot itself; a connection on grok.com is separate.
First, your personal bot
Grok Bot reads Telegram through your own ChatMate bot. Create it in @chatmate_aibot and connect the chats you want. It takes a couple of minutes in Telegram and is done once for every AI.
How to create the bot and connect chatsCreate your personal ChatMate bot
Set up ChatMate in TelegramOpen @chatmate_aibot and follow the setup. Connect the private chats you choose through Telegram Chat Automation, or add your personal bot to a group. If you already did this, keep your existing bot.
Send this request to Grok Bot
Open your Bot and paste the request. Grok Bot adds custom MCP connectors through a message; you do not need a local server or an MCP settings form.
Request to Grok Bot Add a custom MCP server called chatmate at https://www.getchatmate.com/api/connector/mcpConnect and sign in with Telegram
Follow the connector card’s Connect action to ChatMate. Sign in with Telegram in the browser and allow access to your ChatMate connection. Enter Telegram sign-in details only on the sign-in page, never in the conversation with your Bot.
Ask about Telegram in your next message
Ask: “Show my connected Telegram chats. What did Leo ask about the proposal?” If no chats appear, finish connecting them to your personal ChatMate bot first. To send a reply, name the recipient and the message; Grok Bot’s own permission controls still apply.
What works in Grok Bot.
ChatMate brings your selected Telegram conversations into the work you give Grok Bot. New messages are available from connection and kept for up to 60 days.
Find the message behind a task
Ask who requested a change, what a client said about pricing or where a teammate shared the final decision.
Summarize a connected group
Get the decisions, open questions and people waiting for your answer from a conversation you specify.
Draft and send a reply
Ask for a draft, or tell your Bot what to send and to whom. ChatMate checks access to the connected chat before sending.
Use Telegram as task context
Let your Bot work from the actual conversation instead of copying messages into a new task yourself.
Questions about Grok Bot.
- Is Grok Bot the same as Grok on grok.com?
They are separate products with separate connector setup. This page is for the Grok Bot agent. For the Grok chat website, use the Grok Telegram connector guide.
- Is this a Grok bot that I chat with inside Telegram?
ChatMate connects your own Telegram conversations to the Grok Bot app. Create a personal ChatMate bot, select chats or groups, then ask Grok Bot about them. It is not a public Telegram bot that replaces your Grok account.
- Can it read all my Telegram history?
It reads only the chats connected to your personal ChatMate bot. Collection starts when each chat is connected; ChatMate does not import older history. Messages are kept for up to 60 days. Secret chats and channels are not supported.
- Will Grok Bot reply to people automatically?
The connection alone does not authorize replies. Give your Bot a specific recipient and message when you want it to send. Grok Bot manages its own permission and review settings. This guide covers requests made in Grok Bot; it does not set up background replies to tasks sent to your Telegram bot.
- What if Grok Bot cannot add the connector?
Check that your account has Grok Bot access and send the request in Grok Bot, rather than on grok.com. The ChatMate endpoint is hosted, so you do not need to expose anything from your computer. The Cursor support instructions describe adding a custom MCP connector through chat.
- How do I stop access?
Revoke the AI connection in My data. You can also manage the connector in Grok Bot. Removing access does not require deleting your Telegram account.
